The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has recently issued a safety warning regarding certain testosterone treatment and therapy products, claiming that men who use these dangerous drugs have a 30% increased risk of stroke, blood clots, heart attack, and wrongful death. If you have suffered a cardiac event while using testosterone treatment, you may be entitled to compensation.
The specific products that fall under the FDA’s warning include:
- Androderm
- AndroGel
- Axiron
- Bio-T-Gel
- Delatestryl
- Depo-Testosterone
- Fortesta
- Striant
- Testim
- Testopel
“Heart attack” is not listed on the warning labels for any of these drugs, which has prompted the FDA to launch safety investigations. In a recent study, men 65+ years old doubled their risk of heart attack after using one of the above treatments for three months. Meanwhile, men under the age of 65 who had a history of heart disease tripled their risk.
These statistics become all the more unsettling when you understand that 25% of the men in the studies were prescribed testosterone therapy without ever having their hormone levels evaluated by a doctor. A full 43% of the men in the study already had normal levels of testosterone in their blood before taking the treatment.
If you use one of the drugs listed above, see your doctor as soon as possible, even if you have not experienced any negative side effects yet.
