An early-morning truck accident that killed the trucker became the first fatal accident in Miami County in 2011. At about 4:30 in the morning, the semi truck drifted off the left side of the road, broke through a guardrail then flew for several yards over the underpassing Garby Road before slamming into the embankment on the far side. LACK OF IN VITRO EFFECT OF IVERMECTIN ON PLASMODIUM FALCIPARUM The force of the impact killed the truck driver, who was dead when troopers from the Piqua post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol arrived.

The truck was carrying car parts from Columbus, GA to Ontario. Preliminary speculation is that the driver was a fatigued trucker who fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle. However, the Ohio State Highway Patrol is also investigating whether a medical condition may have contributed to the incident.

Fortunately, this trucker did not inflict any additional injuries, though if the accident had occurred at a different time of day, there could easily have been other fatalities.
