Tuesday, a Columbus man who was hit in his wheelchair while crossing Chantry Drive on November 30, died. After the accident, he was taken to nearby Grant Medical Center, where he stayed until he died. According to Columbus police, he was struck by a 2010 Ford Edge driven by a 40-year-old Columbus driver. The woman who was pushing the man in the wheelchair was taken to the same hospital, but has since been released.
The cause of the car accident is still under investigation, but if the driver is found to be at fault, it may be grounds for a wrongful death lawsuit. It was the 53rd traffic fatality in Columbus this year.
