A new Ohio workers’ compensation discount plan has debuted that will reward employers for preventing workplace injuries and helping employees who have already been injured get back to work. The plan, titled Destination: Excellence, was introduced by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) in 2012. Participants in the plan are projected to save between $28 to $40 million.

Through customized risk-management plans, the program helps employers focus on accident prevention, safety, and injured employees’ successful return to work. Destination: Excellence includes:

  • Industry-specific training and consultations
  • A drug-free safety program
  • Safety councils designed to address education and awareness

One of many incentives is a lapse-free discount. If employers have had no lapses in coverage during the past 60 months, they will receive a premium discount. You can learn more about the Destination: Excellence plan at www.OhioBWC.com.
