Between the end of November and through the beginning of the New Year, fatal car accidents increase significantly. In particular, fatal accidents caused by drunk or buzzed driving increase. This is why our firm is joining with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to promote their “Don’t Wreck the Holidays” campaign. This campaign seeks to remind all Americans that driving while under the influence can have horrible consequences and can even ruin the holiday season.
Did you know?
- There were nearly 2,000 fatalities due to drunk driving between December 18-31, 2013
- During the holiday seasons of 2009-2013, there were 4,000 fatalities because of drunk driving
Have a Plan and Stay Safe
During this holiday season, our attorneys encourage you and your family to remain safe by having a plan. When you’re preparing to celebrate the holidays, determine who will be the designated driver and ensure that this person will not have even a single drink. If this isn’t possible, then make plans to take the bus, a taxi, or Uber.
Our attorneys have witnessed far too many car accidents caused by drinking and we hope that our Columbus community has a safe and happy holiday season.
