A woman was struck by a vehicle on the east side of Columbus early Tuesday morning. She was hit on East Livingston Avenue on the westbound side. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
This brings to mind the reason for being aware whenever you or your family are walking, biking, or skating near a street. The most important thing to remember is to be concious of your surroundings. Secondly, you need to ensure to abide by traffic signage and laws and always ride or walk on the proper side of the street.
The best way to avoid motor vehicle accidents is to do the following:
- Be aware when crossing the street
- Look for vehicles in both directions
- Be sure the vehicles can see you, especially if it’s dark
- Make eye contact with the driver of the vehicle; ensure they see you
Tragedies like the one that happened to a local Columbus woman can be avoided by pedestrians being aware and taking precautions to avoid such accidents.
